Since my parents love western music, I love western music, too.
I've listened to Neil Young sometimes before. Until now, I didn't particularly like Neil Young's songs nor dislike them. But hearing him singing no to war like this in his new CD, I love them now!! I think the way he expresses "No War" fair and square is very noble. I went to Hiroshima with our school trip the other day. There were many photographs exhibited at the Hiroshima Atomic Bomb Museum. All of the images were very tragic and upsetting. I felt strongly from my heart, that we really must not participate in war at all. The survivors of the bomb were saying "War brings us nothing. There'll be nothing left. Except for many victims." I totally agree. I truly wish there is no war existing in this world. Things I can do are small, yet I can write about what I think and feel. I pray for the day when there's no more war. Nicky, 9th grade, Takayama |

With grief and comfort, With rage and smile, I desire "peace" and "to live". As long as I live, I will walk. meli |

Neil Young has never changed his belief through the changes of time. He's never changed since the late 60s, the time of protesting Vietnum war with his song "Ohio".
I got shivers when I first heard this album. I also consider this to be musically one of his best. One thing I want everybody to be clear is, he is not anti-America. He is anti-Bush and anti-Cheney. He sings like this in his song "Looking For A Leader": "AMERICA is beautiful With the great spirit on his side Neil concludes this album with the song "America The Beautiful", the song represents the heart of American, with Gospel arrangement. This is the proof of his love to America. Jonosuke |

LWW is an album we, Neil Young fans, has been waiting for. My first impression of the album was "Neil is unexpectedly calm. It has bursting passion, but missing the fire when he played with Crazy Horse." I was expecting something like "Weld" and the energy it has from the title "Living With War". Then I realized this was made to deliver the message more than sending the passion. After reading lyrics, I couldn't believe it was completed in only 2 weeks with that high level of planning. All the details and themes around the war are explained in the short songs, and the simple wordings effectively grab our hearts. As a fan of his music, 40 minutes is a bit too short and I needed to hear more. But I have to admit the structure of these 10 songs can't be more perfect than anyone can. Then I've read his interview toward war, and I'm certain. "Neil is worth trusting. I'm glad to follow him all the way."
"Each one of us should act on what we believe" is the message I got from Neil. Of cause, this is not new. He has been acting on his honest feeling all the way. This is not the first time I got this message from him. T. Sekiguchi, Yokohama |

Neil Young's message presents fair and natural things and speaks out loud to me. Me, who runs away with convenient reasons, who pretends knowing everything, who doesn't want to be a victim, who is ignorant to others as long as I am safe, who wants to live with no ripples around me... me, silly me.
I am 48 years old now. If we can't leave the hopeful future to our children, our generation is "shameless". Azusa, 48, Tokyo, Temp Worker |
